"When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return."
~ Leonardo da Vinci
Eddie Evans - Biography
"I like thinking big. If you're going to be thinking anything, you might as well think big."
~ Donald Trump
George Edward Donald Evans BEM DSc. MSc.
"Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will."
~ Dr. Robert Anthony
An experienced IT Software Developer and Business Process Consultant, Eddie has helped many business entities to dramatically improve their bottom line by developing efficient software and changing business processes when required.
Eddie Evans left school in 1972 and spent 20 years in the Army moving through the ranks from Private to Warrant Officer, during which time he had to learn how to manage people without being able to change pay or conditions. “When morale is high the team can fly” became his mantra.
Spending many years as a Qualified Skiing Instructor and Alpine Skiing Racing Coach he quickly learnt how to put things across in different ways to suit different personalities. Having taught advanced computer programming to adults, and mentored many trainees, he is well qualified to understand how to motivate people to give their best, even when the only reward is the satisfaction of a job well done.
As a self taught software developer he has started, developed and sold a successful software company, and spent many years working as a consultant and software developer in a wide range of corporations and companies of all sizes from one man businesses to one of the world’s largest corporations GE Capital.
An accomplished Aeroplane and Helicopter Pilot, he knows how to stay calm under pressure, and has used this ability to smooth the way through several crises in the business environment.
Eddie was awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 1987 for Displaying Outstanding Technical Ability whilst serving in Berlin behind the Iron Curtain. During this time he was in charge of 5 Departments of the Military Workshop staffed by German Civilians. He transformed the working practices at the workshop without the ability to influence wage or employment contracts.
Having Started an Open University Distance Learning Degree in 1980, he continued with Canterbury University on leaving the Forces and was Awarded a Master of Science Degree in Information Technology in August 1996 and a Doctor of Science Degree in Information Systems Management in September 1998. He has spent considerable time studying people, business processes and working practices. Having worked alongside other Consultants on many occasions he has identified what works and what does not, what makes the most successful companies leapfrog the competition, and what destroys business success just as quickly.
Eddie invented the BLIS (Bottom Line Improvement System) Management Model - in response to a wave of CRAP (Consultants Ruin All Productivity) Management Methods being put forward by some Government Employed Business Consultants with such lunatic ideas such as having nothing personal on your desk and having bits of tape marking where your pencils and staplers should go. What planet are these people on? Because they clearly do not have a clue about human behaviour or motivation.
Eddie now spends his time consulting, and motivating people to improve their working lives, and those of their colleagues to the ultimate benefit of everyone, leading to improvement of the bottom line, and generally making the workplace a nicer place to be.
Eddie has been married to Mary since 1976 and they have a daughter, Connie born in 1980.
The Evans Family spend their time between the United Kingdom and the USA, where they have made their second home in Lincoln Nebraska, since being made Honorary Citizens of Nebraska by the then Governor Mike Johanns on 24th September 1999.
